regli,

If you have ever heard Lutz speak, you may have asked yourself why this guy isn't working in aerospace. He has a clear love of flight.

Recently he spoke to a fairly small group about the future of interiors. One of his main points was that controls have become too complex and consumers just want intuitive controls. I can see his point, but this concept seems regressive in that many of newest interior controls reduce moving parts, improve tolerance stack-up, and offer more choices for the consumer.

You might be exactly right that he is just a man out of time. And to be honest, the talent at the top has a lot to do with results, but the albatross of the UAW and entitlement costs is a heavy load.
