Can you quote the page and book he wrote this? I've seen you often quote things out of context in an attempt to make others look bad or to further your agenda. Needless to say, I don't trust you to be giving us what Bogle wrote in the context of his discussion.

I do agree he says being 100% indexed is a good thing and most will do better that way, but he usually admits when interviewed that he has some money in managed funds so he feels there ARE reasons to not be fully indexed. He'd be contradicting himself unless he gave some context, that you are leaving out.

BTW, if you are very wealthy, putting $1M into 100 stocks to make your own index like fund is probably better than paying Vanguard a small fee every year... so I just gave one reason even Bogle would have to agree with.
