Unlike you, I don't have infinite patience for arguing these things into the ground. I will only way that my comments about what unregulated conglomerates will do are in no way equivalent to the argument contained in your line "You can list the vital ones imagine that any deregulation will go after them first but that's isn't a very reasonable argument even if it might work a a matter of rhetoric."

I was simply defending the notion that some regulation is necessary. Perhaps my defense of that idea wasn't necessary itself, since you had already said you agreed with that.

I think we probably differ only in the amount of regulation that we believe is necessary or beneficial.

As for getting the nation off of oil, the least a real leader would do is to actually try to lead us in that direction, instead of working to perpetuate the status quo by encouraging drilling in enironmentally sensitive areas, among other things.
