If Lieberman loses the primary and goes through with his plans to run as an independent he should be expelled from the democrat party. Biden, Pelosi and Bill Clinton have all campaigned in person for Lieberman. I think all three have said they will support the party's candidate in the general election. In my opinion it will look pretty bad on them (and any other democrats who supported Lieberman) if they don't return and campaign for Lamont if he wins the primary.
