About 45% of Americans believe Creationism. Only about 10-15% of Americans strongly accept evolution. Last I checked, Evangelical Christians are around 25%+ of the USA population, and according to their various church beliefs, the earth was created about 6K years ago, and it will end with Armagedon. I, of course, have know way of knowing whether the people who sit in said church pews actually belief what they claim to or not. It is possible that a large fraction of them are frauds I guess.
