In Aus all employers must contribute 9% to a superannuation plan. But there are no restrictions on what it can be invested in. There is no Social Security in the US sense. The government does though pay a welfare payment called the Age Pension which is about half the minimum wage to poor old people.... Aus seems to have the best combination of compulsoriness and choice and low fiscal burden. The US one of the worst....
