It's cruel. But I love it. And I hate geese and ducks. I'm a geese and duck bigot. But seriously the slaughter of most animals is terribly cruel, as is their treatment in the food industry, so I actually don't find foie gras all that much more cruel (or any more cruel) than the cow that is eviscerated alive, because it wasn't stunned properly, or the chicken pecked all it's life by it's neighbors, or unable to walk because it's breasts are too big for its body. There's a tremendous amount of animal cruelty out there, and I think the big battles are over the huge industries. The small foie gras business would be the last thing I would worry about, if animal cruelty were an issue of mine, but it's really not. I don't eat much meat, and what I do eat is high end organic where the animals are for the most part treated well, so I just don't worry about it. Too many other issues for me. Education and the environment probably top my list, as well as cutting the spending in the Us on stupid overseas pipe dream meddling, and reigning in the pork spending in congress, and spending more on infrastructure.
