No government official has made any threat to Maines. Someone commiting a criminal act, ie. a death threat, doesn't mean the US isn't a democracy. Wiretaps without judicial review, the president starting wars without a Congressional declaration; questional tactics at the voting polls; WH refusal to release documents; extreme gerrymandering in GOP states like Texas; the exposing of CIA agents; the silencing of any opposition, etc.........at what point, do YOU start to worry about the American democracy? And of course no gov't official tried to silence Maines. Dictatorships use thugs to do their dirty work, not gov't officials.
