It's slang for wood framing put together on site, as in a 2X6 is a "stick", and as opposed to manufactured homes or prefab units. It translates as a custom home, built on site, out of dimensional lumber.

Actually, "stick built" homes are much nicer than what you find in Florida trailer parks, and hold up lots better when the wind blows.
