And you point us to a good article, about the possibility of more 9/11s, in which is found the following quote:In fact, one of the most profound changes in the region these past three decades has been the growing unwillingness of Arabs to be afraid. Their leaders - our "moderate" pro-Western Arab leaders such as King Abdullah of Jordan and President Mubarak of Egypt - may be afraid. But their peoples are not. And once a people have lost their terror, they cannot be re-injected with fear. Thus Israel's consistent policy of smashing Arabs into submission no longer works. It is a policy whose bankruptcy the Americans are now discovering in Iraq. So true, and of huge significance. As the above quote correctly indicates, the Lebanese Arabs no longer are afraid, and have shown that they can fight the Israeli invaders to a stand still. As I have said before, it is astonishing --- a sea change, in fact --- that the Israelis, even with total domination of the air, with all the gadgets of modern warfare, with a vastly superior fighting force, with unlimited money (i.e., complete and total access to the treasury of the USA), are having a hard time winning battles a few miles beyond the frontier. Because they put all of their eggs in one sleazy basket, terror, the Israelis keep upping the ante to try to reestablish the pattern, but to no avail. Being morally bankrupt, they have access to no other strategy. Now the Arabs are not collapsing. The entire region is turned into a cauldron of boiling hatred. Meanwhile, back in the USA, anti-Semitism spreads and gets ever more rooted, as people begin to figure what (some of) the Jews have been up to. The Israeli candle is burning at both ends, and when the flames meet, the result is not going to be pretty. As I say, amazing. If you here in the USA think our supporting such immorality and stupidity can happen without serious damage to ourselves, all I can say is: think again.
