Yes, the infamous hate speech laws. I agree that it is a strangely unbalanced overreaction and I worry that the move toward it here in the US will gain traction.

Germany has pretty strict laws bout denying the mass murder of Jews ever happened... for pretty specific and obvious reasons.
Don't know about France.
UK... no, you're wrong. Blair has tried introducing laws restricting speech, on the grounds of promoting terrorism or similar, but he's having major trouble doing so

IMO on the grounds that most people now think he's a deluded ****.
Personally I hope his own conscience will rise up and choke him, painfully, permanently and fatally. However it's probably too small and feeble.
