I am in big oil companies like Valero, Marathon, Conoco Phillips and Cheasapeake (NG) and SU (oil sands). I was thinking of investing in ethanol companies, but then back off since I don't think ethanol from corn is a viable alternative. You take the entire feedstock and use it to produce ethanol for fuel, and it is still not enough. Ethanol is energy negative which requires more than 1 unit of BTU to produce one BTU from ethanol. GM is committed to make a lot of E85 cars, let's see how many people will buy the product. Maybe a few celebrities will buy it just to get into the spotlight. If you have a counter opinion, I like to hear it.
