Hezbollah/Tehran used the 6 plus years since the Israeli pullout planning for the total destruction of Israel. Most likely the attack was to be by more than just Hezbollah via the Lebanese front. It looks like the response that they provoked wasnt quite what they expected.......... maybe the Israeli's were waiting for their opportunity to take out what Hezbollah had put in play.

Either way the attitude of the entire mid east towards Israel has not changed at all.

The military infrastructure that Hezbollah created is no more as well. Should the war be allowed to continue until Hezbollah is totally destroyed then Israel will have achieved it mission. If not then the dance will continue on.
