It's just as well, the unimportant masses who inhabit the globe were not looking forward to shopping at a choice of two department/grocery stores, or every nation in the world starting to look like the UN. Variety is indeed the spice of life....and national identity beats soccer/football team competition any day.

Everyone likes to blame the US. In this case I think there is a lot of blame to spread around all over the place.
