Nasser was even more legendary in his day. Do the masses love him now?

This goes back to the Arab achievement gap. Anybody who can stand up to Israel and not fold in two days, they cheer. They can't help themselves.

When the smoke clears and they begin to count the cost of Nasrallah's little adventure - during which he worked assiduously to protect himself but didn't give a damn what happened to the Lebanese - things will look quite different to them.
