Walmart went further than anyone else wanted to in regards to buying Chinese.

Entirely irrelevant. If Walmart dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow, other companies would start to take over the business and they would also buy from the Chinese. At most Walmart sped up the process, but if China has a comparative advantage in these goods then China is going to be the one making them absent trade barriers against Chinese goods. Walmart may have made the move quickly, other companies might in theory drag their feet (not that I've seen much evidence that they have) but either way they eventually wind up in the same place.
