"My guestimate is that consciounsness itself is somehow involved in the existence of the universe" I remember reading something someplace that put forth the idea that the universe itself is conscious. ...and it gets better... This conscious universe created us (and all living things) in an effort to understand itself. I like it!! Just visualize... infinite universe bubbles all bumping up against each other, growing and shrinking at the unspoken insistence of those surrounding it... ...with all of them all the while wondering "Who/what am I?". On the "If I can't see it, it doesn't exist" front... ONLY a human could be that insanely stupidly arrogant (right up there with "the earth is flat" and "the earth is the center of the universe" crowd). It is just one more step in the endless history of human ego. There must be a god...because we are so cool. The universe is here....because we are so cool. Everything everywhere across all time exists....because we are so cool. Instead of an exploding molecule they used pairs of photons - packets of light - squirted down optical fibres in opposite directions.After travelling six miles,their properties were measured in special detectors and compared. And - as Einstein demanded - the measurements were made so fast that there was no chance of the photons "telling" each other what had happened to them, even if the messages went at the speed of light. According to a report in this week's New Scientist,the results were unequivocal;just as Bohr had predicted,the photons behaved as if they were in instantaneous communication with each other. So Einstein had got it wrong after all - but do the results also mean his famous law against faster-than-light travel is also wrong?
