I know nothing about NE politics - are you really confidant Lieberman could win as an independent?

Not positive, but pretty confident. A lot of independents and Republicans who aren't voting in the primary would vote for him. But I'm no expert in Connecticut politics.

That race is going to be close. If Lamont wins after the nasty ad campaign he ran, that will really say something about CT Democrats. Lieberman was one of the few really presidential people they had left. He went with his conscience and supported Bush on Iraq even though he knew it wouldn't sit well with his fellow Dems. Isn't that integrity?

But then perhaps Lieberman's win as an independent could lead to more Dems splitting off from the party - perhaps to something like a new third party (National Democratic party, maybe?) which could be a home for the more conservative/moderate Dems.

I've been wanting something along those lines. Something like the center of both parties drops out. America really needs a third choice IMO.
