Why thank you! i sent it to him on 30 pound paper, but you're right.

He had a poem on the wall of his cabin written by someone else, so I know he values them.

I do hope we can chat about the places we both love and all the SI stuff we've shared over the years. I'm still trying to hook up with Smithee, and it's entirely my fault that we haven't done it yet.

I picked up a DVD of "The Ranger, The Cook, And A Hole In The Sky at Walmart for only $5.50 today. I ran enough of it to renew my interest in the story of Bill Bell, The Best Damn Ranger in The United States Forest Service.

There are a couple of scenes, including the opening scene, about blasting rock to build trails. Those scenes are pretty funny, but the story Bud Moore told me about his experience of blasting with Bill Bell was much better. I don't know why Norman McLean didn't use Bud's story instead. They were good friends before McLean died, so I'm sure he knew the story.

I love movies that are shot in or are about country that I know. All the places in the movie are real: Hamilton Montana, Elk Summit Ranger Station, Grave Peak Lookout, and the Bitterroot Mountains.

It's too bad they shot the film in BC, probably to save money. It's much cheaper to make movies in Canada.
