"Calling the NYT a cheerleader for Bush is not just inaccurate, its so inaccurate that its a shock to see someone make the claim, even on a forum like SI."

It's much more accurate to say the NYT was an uncritical cheerleader for the invasion of Iraq, which it has itself admitted and apologized for. It's articles doing this cheerleading were reprinted in papers all over the country, and supported Bush's phony "WMD" argument. Being that it came from the NYT, this gave tremendous weight TO the phony WMD argument.
