The German and Polish citizenry knew the Jews, Gypsies and others were being rounded up and taken off and no one saw or heard from them again. Then, there were rumors...

Outside the Reich, there were rumors also. But without real proof, it was hard to credit them. There is so much disinformation that flies around about so many things during a war that it is hard to separate out fact from fiction.
