Pete,

(1) My information was concerning HD DVD format not the decoding of HD TV material...this is why I wanted you to take a gander at the article...

(2) I currently use theatertek with ffdhsow and I do not have to get involved in using an operating system where I cannot get drivers for doing certain things...

(3) My comments are aimed at the possible copy protection and or additional compression decoding processing power required for decoding on the fly from a toshiba HD DVD unit (the more resolution, the compression and processing power required to decode)

(4) For the average user who is not a techie like us linux is not user friendly. I found out I could not get win xp 64 bit drivers for WDM drivers for my video card component output to my HD TV so I currently still use win xp 32 bit...

(5) Goodluck trying to use the toshiba HD DVD pc unit for HD DVD playback on linux systems anytime soon (due to copyright restrictions)...

(6) I think my questions have been for more specific info regarding HD DVD playback on PC systems rather than general info about HD TV decoding (H.264)...
