Its not like the positions gained him any political advantage.


He was playing both sides.

If he was for the war, as I think he was, he should have broken ranks with the Democrats and came out full square with the President. He had visions of becoming Secretary of Defense.

The "Kiss" was not just a kiss. Joe asked for it. He was unfaithful to his party. Bush would not have kissed him unless Joe at least sent strong signals that he could be had.
