Dude, I am not your "honey". If you are looking for a man, I am sure there is a gay thread on SI or you could call the White House. PM AS. He knows how to get you up to speed. This is a Democratic specialty. JUST WHAT IS WRONG WITH BUSH'S APPROACH? He intends to let the Israelis tear those terrorist punks a new ahole and give them a lesson they will NEVER forget. And teach the Lebanonese the cost of having an independent militia that can take them to war. The stupidity of that should be obvious without a practical demonstration, but apparently they're really slow learners. These guys are not too swift. You've got to kill them before they realize they blew it. There is so much of that paragraph that's flawed I could be here all day. Let me just say........Lebanon was a fledgling democracy......notice the use of the past tense......those days are gone. In the first and only year of its existence, it was making progress but the roots of democracy are fragile ones; to whit, America's early years were not good ones. Lebanon was just raising an army. Its control of the country was tentative. As has been thoroughly proven, IT HAD NO CONTROL OF THAT TERRITORY! Instead, it had an independent gov't with its own army down there. And it knew it. Now it COULD have cut a deal with Israel: the Lebanese army will head south, you head north, and we'll crush Hezbollah between us, then you pull back to the other side of the border. It didn't. It's getting what it deserves for its idiocy. Remember the militias in Idaho and other states bordering Canada? What do you think would happen if one of them crossed the Canadian border, killed a bunch of Canadian soldiers, and took 2 hostage? Would Canada SCREAM? You bet it would, and rightfully so. I don't think it would go further though, because the US would move ATF, Marshalls, and troops into the area and kill or capture anyone involved. And then turn the survivors over to Canada for trial. In addition to being a militia and a social welfare org., Hezbollah is also a political entity. It was a member of Parliament. Yeah. Which effectively blows any claim that this was not an act of war by Lebanon against Israel. It represented the Shia, the largest religious group in Lebanon, in a country that has 17 religions. In its first year, the current gov't of Lebanon was not in a position to confront Hezbollah. It was all it could do to kick Syria out of Lebanon which it did. It had better FIND a way. I already suggested one. The Israelis get really pissed about this sort of thing, and justifiably so. If Lebanon doesn't implement UN Resolution 1559 and disarm Hezbollah, there will be Hell to pay. Now if Bush and Israel were do damned committed to democracy and peace in the ME, and the status of Hezbollah was a huge thorn in Israel's side why didn't Bush and Israel approach the Lebanese gov't and ask them if they could help in disarming Hezbollah? I've listened to the PM of Lebanon speak......he's a very reasonable guy. Because Lebanon in theory is an independent country? Why didn't Lebanon approach the US and Israel and ask for help? It had the problem, not the US or Israel. Or are you being a typical Democrat and expecting someone else to do your dirty work? Instead, bully Israel declares war on Lebanon Get you facts straight, smart**. Israel has not declared war on Lebanon. and commences to systematically destroy the country as Mr. Bush sticks his head in the sand pretending he doesn't know what's happening.* He knows what's happening. And what he's going to do: let Israel destroy Hezbollah and give them aid if needed. Wake up, dolt! We and now Israel are at war! And neither of us started this. In the process of tearing a new ahole for Hezbollah, the fledging democracy of Lebanon is all but destroyed and there are billions of dollars worth of destruction. In the meantime, Hezbollah is stronger than ever. Let's see where things settle. Israel has already taken on worse than Hezbollah and won. There may be nothing left of it but dead bodies when this is done. And the Lebanonese gov't could still make Israel an offer about cleaning the nest of snakes. Stupid is as stupid does! Sure is. It was the stupidest thing Hezbollah could do. They thought they'd get away with it; instead it's blown up in their faces. Now tell me: Why is a nation not justified in reacting to an act of war with war. I really want to see you try to escape this one. Even the Arab states knew Hezbollah had gone too far.
