I think you're putting a lot of spin on this. The situation of aboriginals in Canada and Palestinians in Israel and the occupied territories is one heck of a stretch to compare. Aboriginals in Canada have all the rights of Canadians plus a very large number of rights and benefits that non-natives do not have (and sure would like to have). In contrast, while everyone lucky enough not to have been forced out of Israel and into refugee camps has rights under the law, the country is a Jewish state, and there are rights for Jews that go beyond those of other people. Also, those in the occupied territories have little or not rights. So, if we compare how equitably people are treated, I think that there is no comparison between Palestinians and Canada's aboriginals. Aboriginals have preferred status under the law as do Jewish people in Israel. What some aboriginals would love would be to share in the credibility as genuine victims that the Palestinians have. And I'll bet Palestinians would love to have the kind of rights that aboriginals have in Canada.
