"Because a U.S. recession will trump commodity speculation."

Are these the famous "last words" of the infamous "tic toc guru."

Hope you don't end up eating those words. They might taste very bitter. (smile)

My words that I proffer to you.

"There is a long term bull in the commodities market that is far from over."

Santi

Slider:

You are way too bearish on gold.

I say the lows are in and the next drop probably will not go much below $600.

$1000+ by 2008 looks very doable

Nothing to do with speculation more like relocation. Speculation? Market timing is everything - however, if everybody decided to do it at the same time...now that is interesting! Gold is NOT dead, it is simply biding its time, waiting for its next earth-shattering mega-rally. We'll see who will have the last laugh in a couple years from now. Commodities are still in the early part of a secular bull market. Gold bottomed on February 16, 2001. Later that year, both gold stocks and silver hit virtually simultaneous 60 - and 30 - year anniversary lows on November 19 and November 21, respectively.

A US Recession is in the cards although we are dealing with a stacked deck . These guys are magically pulling monkeys out their ass and the audience is clapping. Goldman is not the only firm that trades against their clients;they all do. The stakes here are greater than this whole market. They are geopolitical. Payback is a bitch and it is coming.

so it goes...

imo

'Because a U.S. recession will trump commodity speculation.'

Slider every single newsletter I get said buy oil stocks and gold stocks on this dip because they were going higher.

Every single talking head on the cable news stock shows was pushing oil and gold stocks as a buy here.

I bet I've read 800 pages worth of of newsletters and listened to a hundred hours of blather on cable over the last couple of weeks that said buy oil and gold stocks.

I kind of feel now that they were greasing their own exit.

Your one sentence in your 'dead speculators' post #2176 said more in 8 words and was more accurate than everything I've read over the last month combined.

'Because a U.S. recession will trump commodity speculation.'

Any predictions on Silver?

TIA

Ron

"I TOLD you -- I saw dead speculators."

Whodathunkit?

...a HUI 312 close yesterday on 9/11/06 -- AFTER THIS:

4 months...and only + 5 HUI points since the washout bottom back in May.

And what do the Oilpatch permabulls have to show for 9 long years?

How about + 30 OSX points... NINE YEARS after the OSX 150 double tops of 1997-98.

Thirty stinkin' points over N-I-N-E Years!

They would have done better buying & holding S&H Greenstamps.

PPS: Ya' think maybe Jimmie-boy was dumping TRE to raise some CASH to cover his -- "FREE PUT" offer?!?!

ROTFLMAO~

I think he got HIS answer yesterday...and Ron, that's as close to an answer as you're going to get (vbg).
