Re: "had it not been for several factors: 1. bureaucrats 2. Lebanese people 3. pressure from us the Israeli Military would have been turned loose and the Hezbos would all be dead or gone."

LOL!

Well... like Napoleon said: "If wishes were horse, beggars would ride!"

(All I can add is that Israel occupied southern Lebanon for 12 years --- ending just 6 years ago --- and no one, not the US, not anyone else, is stopping them from trying the same thing all over again... but that doesn't mean it will help them all that much.)

Like I said: I believe Hezbollah is counting on this fight to ENHANCE their power and prestige among various Islamic peoples... in their 'PR contest' with the Sunni Hamas, and Iran is counting on this distraction to take the world spotlight off of their nuclear ambitions and their growing power in Iraq, while Syria is counting on Hezbollah to be a 'chit on the table' in their campaign to get the Golan back.

(In the past campaign, Lebanon was Israel's own 'tar baby'... slowly bleeding their forces and their finances. Just the same as Iraq is the US's 'tar baby', doing the same harm to the US now. You notice that the US doesn't have any troops to 'spare' for Lebanon... and has had to turn to the French, hat in hand, for military support?)
