If there is no settlement after April 9 between Nokia and Qualcomm, can Nokia produce phones - to compete with Apple's Ipod - without infringing QCOM patents on WCDMA?

Depends on whether an injunction is issued against Nokia, which is very unlikely, IMO. If no settlementis reached and no injunction is issued, Nokia can go ahead with its plans but it does so at its peril.

It might be that some sort of interim standstill agreement is reached between the two allowing sale of equipment on which Q has IPR pending a final settlement or judicial decree.
