Lamont would lose today 2. Dems have once again positioned themselves as the party of weakness on national security. Whether they are or not is irrelevant, its the perception. McCain's pres ambitions just got a shot in the arm. This may help Clark on the dem side but clearly will keep enough voters away from the dean/dems to minimize any dem victory in november. 3. Would anyone here be disappointed if the brits used wiretapping to nab the suspects, even wiretapping by the executive branch that some think violates citizen rights even when its clearly used in wartime. 4. Does Elroy want to repopulate brits of pakistani origin to New Jersey? Perhaps he should move to Pakistan. 5. What are the root causes of Pak/Brits anger? Was it the years of racism their parents suffered under in the UK? I am one who remembers the days of Paki-bashing which went on at the same time the Beatles were making their bones. Hopefully most US muslims have not been radicalized in this way and we can continue to control the fringe that is dangerous and resides here. 6. Will iran, syria, hizbolla renounce this type of terrorism and seek an accomodation with the west? It is in our interest and theirs as well to reach such an accomodation. Neither party has an interest in the type of world al quaeda has in store for us, whether we are jews, christians, hindus or shiaa muslims. 7. I hope Musharaff is secretly transferring his nukes to the US, realizing that one day he will be executed and bin laden types will try to get control of pakistan and its nukes. I hope the indians and the US have these nukes accounted for and targeted. War with "post-pakistan" if indeed the moderates fail, is likely. 8. Israel needs to strike a deal even if they havent attained their goal. They got the time they asked for and failed to destroy hizbolla. Since Israel makes no legal claim on sheba farms and syria has "haha" ceded sheba to lebanon, the israelis best course is to sign a treaty with lebanon which will be the first since the armistice of 1948 that returns sheba, removes katushas from hizbolla control, and returns the israeli captives. 9. If somehow there can be peace in Lebanon, the model should be applied to the West Bank and Gaza.
