In a country where TV Guide is the top selling publication and the tabloids sell in the millions, that poll doesn't surprise me. Saddens me, but no surprise.

The other night I saw the classic movie "Body Heat" again and recalled one of my favorite lines:

"Keep talking, Matty, experience proves I can be convinced of just about anything."

Ditto America.

Would also be interested in other thread regulars response to this poll question as well, a thread poll?

No conspiracy!!

If for no other reason than our government isn't smart enough to pull it off. <g>

Don't forget that a third of us thought that it was Iraqis who flew those planes into the WTC...

I would be more interested in your opinion and those of your Kos literate friends regarding your opinion of the latest Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll where 36% of Americans believe that your govt was complicit in the 9/11 attacks.

It is difficult to voice the slightest suspicion about 911 without being labeled a wild-eyed conspiracy nut.

However, there were many unexplained anomalies that day and the govt seemed (and seems) to have little interest in appointing serious investigative bodies to find answers.

The most telling indictment to me, is that the FBI has not found evidence that connects bin Laden to 911. If the FBI says there is no evidence that bin Laden was involved, it seems to me that we are back to square one.

I have read Kos, not much though, too much vulgarity, maybe I was just directed to the worst parts.

I much prefer Josh Marshall and billmon and digby.

Far more informed reporting (in Marshall's case) and deeper, more insightful analysis from all three.

More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East,

Colossal though my distaste for the current administration is, I don't believe this and am startled that a third of the US do... I could credit that figure in a Muslim country, perhaps.
I can see it maybe being bulled around (Rumsfeld saying something like "Jeez, I wish they would attack us so we could really stomp them into dust") but no more.

Note that it does say 'federal officials' though so doesn't directly implicate Bush etc.
