I had thought the Internet would enable an improvement in education. Apparently not for everyone.

my unusual living situation doesn't give me a representative sample of acquaintances.

Is this going to get ugly? <g>

The people I know wouldn't believe it either but that's hardly a random sample. It does however include people of all different political opinions.

When I first read about the poll I thought it was one of those "instant online polls" that are frequently so unreliable. However according to scrippsnews.com it doesn't seem like it is.

I notice in the comments at that site that someone is arguing that "jet fuel can't burn steel". Well maybe it can't totally melt or burn through steel, I don't know but it certainly can weaken it through heat. Its not like the steel has to be burned through. I do see arguments like that comment from time to time online (never by anyone speaking directly to me in person) but I'm still skeptical that a third of Americans either believe the government was behind 9/11 or that they knew about it and deliberately did nothing. Extreme claims require more evidence than normal claims. This one poll doesn't do it for me, esp. without a lot of information about the methodology of the poll.
