Tim could have explained it -- Tim would tell you that he was tipping his hat to the other player -- but wait, no hat you say? No worries, Tim would explain that the gesture was as good as if he had been wearing a hat. Of course the player who was head-butted should have known to step back while the other player showed him the courtesy of a tip of his hat. What can you do when you try so hard to be polite, tipping your hat and all, and people just won't understand that and step back a safe distance. Tim could explain it all.
