Government canteens and schools have already banned Coke and Pepsi in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab.

Even if they contained no pesticides, colas have no place in public schools IMHO. Children get addicted to the HFC sweetners all too easily, causing obesity and a range of health problems.

Sad that modern India seems to be repeating so many of the same mistakes we have made in the West.

At least it is encouraging that "The Indian middle class ... panics very easily when it comes to matters related to health."
And I'm glad to hear that the argument "hot things are cooling" is still heard.
