What difference does it make if oil prices rise or not? I'm assuming we're all here to make investment decisions. As oil prices have shot back and forth, quadrupling and being decimated, it hasn't really had that big of a visible impact in economic activity or stocks. Seriously, it is up from the teens to $75. Has it hurt the economy? Show me some evidence. I think oil prices fall very soon, but it won't help stave off the economic downturn much at all.

The only place it matters is if you are going to make an investment in a company that holds the rights to oil reserves. Of far greater importance to the remaining 98% of the investment universe is what happens to general economic activity and interest rates (and nothing says interest rates must track inflation, see my earlier post.)

However just as the size of homes have mushroomed, the size of the lots those houses sit on have gotten smaller and smaller as the price has gone through the roof.

Holy smokes - you see this too eh? My grandpa said always have enough land so you can grow yourself a small garden. This is lost on modern day princess - in a tight she doesn't even have the CHOICE of going into her backyard and growing some food. The pool takes all available land - maybe she can raise FISH - HAHA! Elroy said the cityfolk starved in bolshevik russia while the farmers ate better.

Sometimes I raise up like Mogambo and cry out at the insanity I am reading on my terminal or hear cramer preaching on CNBC - I holler in a mad rage of confusion and disgust as I see another DIY show install another 100K kitchen in a 20K house. If I lived in those communities where there is less than 1 foot of space between the homes I would have been forced to leave long ago I am sure! I can always find refuge in my orange groves way out in the country - I can run free - naked if I choose - holler like a mad wolf at the moon - and not have to go to jail for it - try that in your average lennar community - hehe.
