The people voted in a democratic election and the people chose their nominee for the Democratic Party in CT.

Not "the people," registered Democrats. Connecticut has closed primaries. If "the people" -- including Republicans, third party voters, and unaffiliated -- could have voted in that primary, probably Lieberman would have fared better.

I don't see Barnes' essay as an attack, I think he's trying to predict.

Many people "predict" that their desires will come true.

Pundits shouldn't, but of course many do (EJ Dionne comes to mind) but I doubt Barnes is doing that.

Sometimes predictions are too close to call, and sometimes they are not. I don't think the question of whether the country is going to swing as far left as Move On/Talk Left/Daily Kos/Josh Marshall/Michael Moore is even close.
