I disagree. Assuming Saddam invaded Kuwait for personal greed and power, we had little choice but to drive him back. The big difference between the wars was that Bush Sr. knew how to di diplomacy, build a solid coalition and defray the cost of the war. Bush Jr. didn't do any of that, just stuck the US with the entire cost, and didn't plan beyond Stage 1 at all.

In fact I heard a Dem congressman on the radio the other day (dem leader of Armed Services Committee) say he asked for a post invasion plan before the war and the WH didn't have one.
