Karen,

In the late 1930's Fascism was expanding throughout Europe, Africa and Asia. Thousands were dying each day and gas chambers and ovens were being planned or were under construction.

Our decision to resist this movement globally after Pearl Harbor resulted in hundreds of thousands of US deaths - far more than we lost that day.

So how did our decision look in late 1942 or 1943 - pretty bad actually, but by 1945 all these threats were gone.

Was the price worth it? I think so, but todays 'liberals' transplanted to 1941 would be asking 'Why do the Japanese hate us?' or 'What can we do to accommodate German culture?'.

Resistance and War will increase risk, that is a fact.

Why don't the opponents of the WoT simply move their 1980's slogans from 'Better Red than Dead' to 'Allah Akhbar'.

If we all converted wouldn't that help? All we have to do is decide whether we want to be Shia or Sunni....

John
