So you are saying that it is possible to intercept digital cell phone calls, but CDMA is more difficult than GSM? Implying that technology is not going to trump the govts ability to listen in on its citizens?

BTW I went to the dailyKos main site today after hearing on TV about something raising the alert level, and there was nothing there unusual.

I suspect that there will be discussion later on that site speculating that Pres. Bush had prior knowledge of todays terror attempt and that he actively participated through illegal wiretaps of cell phone conversations of British citizens.

Which all makes sense, since we find out about this incident prior rather than after the fact.

One could have a very looooong discussion regarding the intersection of technology, statutory and constitutional issues.

Probably, but the bottom line is that you still have no expectation of privacy. Perhaps at some point in the future, you will, but now you don't.
