COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Core Molding Technologies, Inc. (Amex: CMT - News) today announced results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2006. ADVERTISEMENT The Company recorded net income for the second quarter of 2006 of $2,503,000, or $.25 per basic and $.24 per diluted share, compared with $1,735,000, or $.18 per basic and $.17 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2005. Included in the 2005 net income was a charge to income tax expense of $193,000 or $.02 per basic and diluted share, resulting from the changes to the State of Ohio tax code in 2005. Total net sales for the second quarter were $39,511,000, compared with $33,659,000 in the same quarter of 2005. Product sales for the three months ended June 30, 2006 increased 20 percent, to $38,426,000, from $31,999,000 for the similar period in 2005 primarily as a result of the sales from the Batavia operation acquired in August 2005. Tooling sales totaled $1,085,000 for the second quarter 2006 versus $1,660,000 for the similar time period in 2005. Revenue from tooling projects is sporadic in nature and does not represent a recurring trend.
For the first six months of 2006, net income was $4,785,000, or $.48 per basic and $.46 per diluted share, compared with $3,691,000, or $.38 per basic and $.36 per diluted share, in the similar period of 2005. Included in the 2005 net income was a charge to income tax expense of $193,000 or $.02 per basic and diluted share, resulting from the changes to the State of Ohio tax code. Total net sales for the first six months of 2006 were $76,013,000, compared with $66,176,000 in the first half of 2005. Product sales for the first six months of 2006 increased 19 percent to $73,781,000 from $62,217,000 for the similar period in 2005 primarily as a result of the sales from the Batavia operation acquired in August 2005. Tooling sales totaled $2,232,000 for the first six months of 2006 versus $3,959,000 for the similar period in 2005.
