Actually a lot of other things did get more expensive in Fort McMurray. There are terrible labor shortages, and the 30-foot-tall tires on the trucks that haul the tar sands to the cokers are getting impossible to replace at any price.

As I said, the cost for extracting oil from the tar sands is more like $25 a barrel than $10 a barrel, and much of that cost is natural gas.

Speaking of the Canadian dollar, that thing just won't stop! Another .13 cents or so and it is trading at parity with the USD. Hmmmm
