You really don't have much of historical understanding of the VN War if you think the left lost it.

I highly recommend 2 books to you on the subject.

"The Best & the Brightest" by David Halberstam and "A Bright Shining Lie" by Neil Sheehan. Both authors are/were reporters who stayed in Vietnam a long time.

These books also will set the war in the historical context of the Vietnamese's 100 year struggle against Colonialism--which gives it entirely different perspective.

I only wish this perspective was applied to the Iraq situation before the invasion.

Not trying to be a smart ass here, but I think the problem we have in our political leaders today is the over simplifcation things and not understanding the historical dynamics at work.
