Won't parse but I will contextualize.

The context is disagreement with the notion that antiwars are necessarily ostriches. The response is that there are non-ostriches--people of conscience--among those who opposed invading Iraq.

Draw a circle and label it antiwar. Draw an overlapping circle and label it people of conscience. The overlapping part is antiwar people of conscience. The remainder of the people-of-conscience circle remained irrelevant and unaddressed.

Ig, you are entitled to any construction you prefer, but you cannot legitimately claim it as the only alternative. Mine is at least as valid.
