Indeed, that's why it's reckless. Whether or not there are other, better alternatives, creative destruction in an uncontrolled environment is still reckless. At the very least you first line up your ducks

The international system will seek the lowest energy level. After 9/11, we had the chance to move. There is no waiting for the ducks to get lined up, especially since humans (unlike ducks) have an irritating habit of avoiding the line. It was hard enough to pull off Iraq, with a whole trunk full of UNSC resolutions and a scant 2 years after 9/11. Take a look at Iran. Chances of actually getting concensus to do anything is probably nil, unless they do something really extreme. Like conduct their first nuclear test over Tel Aviv. If we want change, we have to take the circumstances as they fall. To the bold, as they say. Nobody ever won a war by sitting back and waiting for ideal circumstances to arise.
