It's also worth noting that Syria's occupation of Lebanon was beneficial to Lebanon. They politically stabilized a chaotic country, and fostered an economic boom.

And that's why Syria/Iran armed Hizbullah, AND NOT THE LEBANESE ARMY, with 15,000 Katyushas, and some the most advanced military hardwar available to some armies??

That sounds REALLY BENEFICIAL to me..

And btw, the country was PERFECTLY STABLE until thousands of PLO members decided to base themselve in Lebanon and use it as their staging ground for perpetuating their war against Israel. Israel ran them off in 1983, and Hizbullah took their place.. all armed NOT by the Lebanese government, but by Syria and Iran.

Yep.. Syria has been really stabilizing force..

Why don't you tell my brother-in-law all about it?.. He's a Maronite. And he and my sister were part of the evacuation, having picked the wrong time to visit his family.

He'll tell you he hates what Israel is doing right now, but he hates Hizbullah JUST AS MUCH for instigating this.

And he'll tell you ALL ABOUT how "stabilizing" Syria's presence was.. Very stabilizing, if you consider planting their own operatives in Lebanon's government, "stabilizing".
