Something that doesn't resemble Yahoo message boards?

LOL - you have a good point. I think trotsky thought this was just like Yahoo so he left.

There's plenty of color available through the different countries represented, educational backgrounds, experiences, etc. The absence of hissy fits doesn't automatically turn the thread into shades of grey, whereas the presence detracts from focusing on the merits (or weaknesses) or the underlying points of contention.

I have read the humor threads - they don't bust the egos like grace/elroy arguements in non humor threads - Mish and others point out the great Gilder/Trotsky battles - that wouldn't have happened in humor threads - Gilder wouldn't have opened himself up to such ridicule in anything but a serious forum eh? Even you yourself admit seeing mish have hissy after hissy in a serious thread can be funny. Sometimes the funniest things happen in places where you don't expect it - the irony is so much more cutting in such a forum eh? What fun would there be in watching mish have a hissy over in the yahoo boards?

I saw the head of the pres economic budget team make a math error on c-span once - a very basic error - If I remember correctly he couldn't do basic addition in his head - had to have one of his staffers do the calculation - (maybe he was nervous because he was on TV) he said his math teacher would be dissapointed - I posted about it here - it had me rolling for hours BECAUSE it was in a serious forum - had it been on comedy central it just wouldn't have been as entertaining I suppose.

Russ talks about bond bubbles and credit - it is informative - but his ridicule of pigmen - his analogies comparing to Mr. Creosote - hooker loving bankers and Humpty Dumpties is what keeps me coming back - are we turning into a yahoo board? Some of the scathing hatred I see on YAHOO is just too emotional and over the top - no moderation at all. Its not funny though - it is very cruel and mean.

All the arguing by so many serious people busting each others egos - it has been better than any soap opera - but its not so cruel like those yahoo boards - not so dry like the expensive paid forums.
