I agree with you that all of what you suggested in your second to the last paragraph is unlikely to be seen by us in this or any lifetime.

HOWEVER, if people can come to see that they need PEACE not war, and that that is so for their so-called enemies also, and that
past enemies can become friends or at least tolerated, and that cooperation and tolerance together move the parties towards peace
THEN
some movement towards a better future IS possible, yes?

I do understand and I know you do also, that the lust for power, coupled with relentless greed can trump all the more benign motion in mankind, but why should they be allowed to dominate?

The fact that this has tended to be so in the past does not dictate its endless repetition in the future, necessarily.
