Regli.. How many years separate 1958 and 1975?? How long has Lebanon been a country? Even with the PLO moving in beginning in 1970 (after being kicked out of Jordan for trying to overthrow King Hussein), the country was relatively peaceful and Christians and Muslims were almost equally represented. There may have been ethnic tensions, but they seldom rose to the level of outright sectarian violence. But certainly the PLO presence, and their attempt to subvert and undermine the Lebanese government was the setup for the civil war that followed in 1975. Hawk
