Friedman has a great column today about the day after the day after. According to him in so many words a tie goes to israel. After the folks in lebanon return home post truce, they will curse israel but direct their anger to nazralla for bringing this upon them. According to Friedman, everyone in lebanon believes that hizbolla provoked israel into this war fbo iran. Just as iranian reformers sometime try to tell their govt to spend the money locally and not fbo palestine, lebanese citizens may also ask hizbolla why you sacrificed all we had fbo irans attempt to deflect attention on their nukes. Friedman think that hizbolla will have to allow in an international force and even if they keep some of their rockets and weaponry they will have to shoot them over french, turk, and italian troops to get at israel in the future. Not likely. All in all i felt a bit better about the results of this war after reading TF in todays NYT.
