Actually, you're right.. Carotid artery.. I was typing fast since I was editing my post and that's just what came to mind.

But somehow I don't think any other soldier would be able to save you if your carotid artery, let alone your jugular vein, were completely severed (along with your head).

As for their decision to delay their offensive, apparently Bush requested they do so in order to see if they can get a satisfactory cease fire through the UNSC.

It's typical power play.. Bush would have little chance of changing Chirac's mind about blocking a Chapter VII resolution that would mandate the disarming of Hizbullah if it weren't plainly clear that Israel was prepared to widen the war and go deeper into Lebanon to disarm them.

But of couse, Israel doesn't want to have to do this. Why should they? After all, it's the responsibility of the Lebanese government and the UNSC to fulfill the terms of UNSC 1559, which Israel HAD ALREADY complied with.

I would delay too, if I thought I could hope for one last chance for that kind of resolution. But if it doesn't come, then I'd send my troops in and do the job MY WAY..and screw the rest of the world.
