The technological gap between an old cordless phone and a modern digital cell phone is huge, enough to make the legal dimension the crucial factor in privacy (unless someone with sophisticated equipment taps you outside the law, which is probably possible, though WW will know more about the encryption quality than I do).

We must be talking about two different things because as I see it it's all technology. ...

Any laws that exist are beside the point until and unless the technology changes. When the technology provides for secure conversations, then we will be able reasonably expect privacy.


I have a rather full calendar today. I'll try to go through the technology issues later this evening.
